From initial enquiry to commissioning and approval by class in 10 days. Doesn’t seem possible? Well ETY have managed it. On 4th April they were requested to attend M/Y Angara (43m) yacht in Palma de Mallorca to take a look at the existing generator management system that was giving the crew problems. After the initial survey, a quotation was submitted and the order swiftly placed. The timeframe was 16 days to sail away and this was subsequently reduced to 11 days after schedule change for the vessel earlier. ETY’s engineering department generated drawings for submission to DNV for approval, the materials required including the Deif protection and paralleling units where in stock at ETY. The modification of the existing system was carried out and the installation, testing and commissioning of the new system commenced in earnest. As expected, the commissioning was a success and the new drawings were stamped ‘approved’ by the class surveyor on 14th April

Last Saturday saw the inaugural ETY/Oc3an.com Karting Grand Prix held at the prestigious Festival Park circuit. 21 drivers battled it out over three races in near perfect dry conditions with air and track temperatures 16°C and 19°C respectively.
A number of minor incidents occurred, with one notable crash involving a lady driver burying her kart beneath the crash barrier, the driver was trapped for some time but was eventually freed and medevac’d by minibus to nearby Alaro for re-hydration treatment.
The overall winner of the event, cheered on by a near capacity crowd was ‘MAD’ (AKA Miguel Angel Diaz).

We are heading due north next week for the industries premiere equipment supply exhibition. This has proved over the years to be an extremely productive show for both ETY and our supply division, oc3an.com. Whilst builders and yards do not exhibit at the event, their representatives travel from around the globe to visit the Superyacht Pavilion. Given our involvement in the building, refitting and servicing of Superyachts, METS with its 1,300 exhibitors and 19,000 marine industry professionals attending, it is an absolute must for us.

We will of course be supporting our key partners Palladium Technologies at the 19th annual Global Superyacht Forum where the Founder and President, Michael Blake will be speaking on the ‘Global Superyacht Market’s Brain Day’. http://www.globalsuperyachtforum.com/partner/71/palladium-technologies
